Beat Ideas from the Editors:

November 17th Junior Choir is going to perform at KIS in a choral Concert

Photos: Take photos of the individual fashion presenters in different angles, at
least one on each side

Copy/Caption angle: Talk about how this is a new initiative. NAHS and HFH
have held hands to hold a fashion show. Talk about how this will be benefiting
both clubs. Talk about how SIS has been making progress to encourage
cooperation among clubs.
Possible interview questions:
- What is this fashion show’s purpose?
- If this is a fundraiser, where is the money going?
- What do you (advisor) expect to get out of this fashion show?
- What do you (students) expect to get out of this fashion show?

Please focus on progress and their journeys to become more cooperative clubs
utilizing these experiences.

MS Table Tennis

Copy:

Think of an angle that depicts a unique aspect or feature of table tennis. I
honestly don’t think a lot of schools cover table tennis as part of a P.E. curriculum,
so you should focus on its uniqueness. How long has table tennis been a part of
the P.E. curriculum? I’m sure it’s relatively novel. Find out why the P.E. teachers
decided to incorporate table tennis as a part of their curriculum. Find out what
students learn through table tennis and how they appreciate the sport.
I would start the copy with a certain scenario—for example, focus on a
student who was playing a game and won. Use a quote that explains how he or
she learned such methods of table tennis through the course. That would be your
hooker. Then introduce your angle and describe the course of table tennis in
general. So your copy should move like an inverted pyramid, from a detailed story
to broad generalizations about the topic.

Photos:

-Take photos with interesting angles, not just “flat-out” where you’re just watching
the game at an eye-level. Get down, go on a chair, take shots from above the head or
below the table. Capture emotions.
-Maybe you can have a panorama photo! Make a photo that’s extremely long (you
can snapshot the whole scenario of the gym) and you can incorporate it as a leading
line or background shot.
-Vertical shots of individual players
-Students hitting the ball, students setting up the nets, etc.
-High depth in field shots of students hitting the ball
-High depth in field shots of the racket or ping-pong ball? It would be an
interesting way to display a picture, maybe can be used for an info-graphic or
background photo.
-Horizontal shots of games
-Have a variety—double teams, single players, etc.
-P.E. teachers supervising the games
-Students helping each other out on hitting methods
-P.E. teachers showing students how to handle the rackets properly

November 17th Junior Choir is going to perform at KIS in a choral Concert

Assigned to: Grace Song + Kevin Kim
From Sean Kim

Photos: One person should follow them to KIS and take photos for the event.

Copy/Caption angle: Talk about how SIS choir has been making progress, spreading out across the different international schools. The number of concerts a choir has often represents their size and skills, thus you can talk about how choirs on lower levels have also been trying hard to develop.
Possible interview questions:
-       How long has SIS been a part of this KIS choral concert?
-       If this is new, what was the initiative to join?
-       What do you (advisor) expect to get out of this Concert?
-       What do you (students) expect to get out of this Concert?

Please focus on progress and their journey to becoming a better, more developed choir utilizing these experiences.

November 15th: Rice Bowl Painting:

Angle: Reasons Behind the Fundraiser, if it is personal?

People to interview: Mrs. Hurt, Mr. Waters (he lives in Bangkok), other experts  or people who are doing the activity
