Class Work for April 24th
1. Explanation of Surrealist self portrait
For the next week and a half you will be working on this project. You can only use photographs that you took and you must use photoshop to piece your vision together. Before you begin you must explain your vision with a partner for suggestions and okay it with Ms. Hogshead or Mrs. Lambie. Today all you will be doing is speaking with a partner and a teacher.
2. Mini Lesson on new design strategy.
3. Take one of your old column layout and redo it not using columns, have an eye line and make sure that it follows the rules of the new design.
Save old design and new design in yearbook folder labeled 24 April new layout inside a folder labeled with your name.
Seniors work on the end of the year presentations. Focus on Swimming.
4. Discuss with a partner your surrealist portrait idea.

Class Work for April 20th
Class Work
1. Use one of your photos from your Monday photos (if you weren't here then use one from this year) and use cloning to make it better
(save the before and after on the Yearbook drive: 20 April: Cloning and Multiplicity in a folder labeled with your name)
2. Come up with a design idea for multiplicity. With a partner take photographs of yourself (at least 4).
3. Create a photo that uses all 4 of you in one shot. Make sure that you use not only the selection tools, but the masking as well. (Review videos if needed) Also, play around with the different selection tools.
Save in folder entitled: April 20: Cloning, Selection and Masking.
4. Invite people who you do not already have to Pinterest. Including Ms. Hogshead and Mrs. Lambie. Start boards for yearbook or make it even more specific and make boards for photograph, infographs, design, etc...
5. Work on compiling photos for slideshows.

HW Due APril 24th
Start thinking of how to create a self portrait that you will use photoshop to piece together who you really are. This should be a surrealist idea. Use pinterest to begin coming up with ideas and begin taking photographs to work on this. You should have a rough draft idea to explain to a partner what you should do. All of the photographs you use MUST be your own, so start taking them.
The purpose of this is to be creative, explore symbolism and strengthen our Photoshop skills. So play around and teach each other.

Red Cross Youth Christmas Bake Sale
December 8, 2011 lunch time in the auditorium
Photo: RCY members will be baking goods for the bake sale during lunch. There will be people going around with envelopes to collect donations. Focus on taking one group shot of the food selling booth and a couple of individuals going around donating.
Copy: RCY is doing this bake sale to fund an orphanage called “Hope House.” Its an ongoing project RCY has been a part of since the beginning of their club. Focus on how some clubs like RCY is trying to impact the society around them by funding one specific orphanage. The orphanage has yet to be recognized by the government due to their poor facilities, thus RCY is trying to help improve upon their status. This bake sale is a part of RCY’s journey to help Hope House gain recognition.

November 17th Junior Choir is going to perform at KIS in a choral Concert
Photos: Take photos of the individual fashion presenters in different angles, at
least one on each side

both clubs. Talk about how SIS has been making progress to encourage
cooperation among clubs.
Possible interview questions:
- What is this fashion show’s purpose?
- If this is a fundraiser, where is the money going?
- What do you (advisor) expect to get out of this fashion show?

MS Table Tennis
Copy:
Think of an angle that depicts a unique aspect or feature of table tennis. I
honestly don’t think a lot of schools cover table tennis as part of a P.E. curriculum,
so you should focus on its uniqueness. How long has table tennis been a part of
the P.E. curriculum? I’m sure it’s relatively novel. Find out why the P.E. teachers
decided to incorporate table tennis as a part of their curriculum. Find out what
students learn through table tennis and how they appreciate the sport.
I would start the copy with a certain scenario—for example, focus on a
student who was playing a game and won. Use a quote that explains how he or
she learned such methods of table tennis through the course. That would be your
hooker. Then introduce your angle and describe the course of table tennis in
general. So your copy should move like an inverted pyramid, from a detailed story
to broad generalizations about the topic.
Photos:
-Take photos with interesting angles, not just “flat-out” where you’re just watching
the game at an eye-level. Get down, go on a chair, take shots from above the head or
below the table. Capture emotions.
-Maybe you can have a panorama photo! Make a photo that’s extremely long (you
can snapshot the whole scenario of the gym) and you can incorporate it as a leading
line or background shot.
-Vertical shots of individual players
-Students hitting the ball, students setting up the nets, etc.
-High depth in field shots of students hitting the ball
-High depth in field shots of the racket or ping-pong ball? It would be an
interesting way to display a picture, maybe can be used for an info-graphic or
background photo.
-Horizontal shots of games
-Have a variety—double teams, single players, etc.
-P.E. teachers supervising the games
-Students helping each other out on hitting methods
-P.E. teachers showing students how to handle the rackets properly
